Red Knights UK Fire Service Memorial 9th of May 2026

Members from the Custodians MC East Anglia and South East Chapters recently had the honour of attending the National Red Plaque Fire Service Memorial for its 2nd Anniversary, alongside the deeply moving inauguration of the K9 Memorial. The event brought together serving and retired emergency service personnel, motorcycle clubs, supporters, and international guests in a powerful show of remembrance, respect, and unity.

Held in an atmosphere of reflection and camaraderie, the memorial event paid tribute not only to the sacrifices made by members of the Fire and Rescue Service, but also to the dedicated service animals who have stood alongside them in the line of duty. The unveiling of the new K9 Memorial was an especially poignant moment, recognising the courage, loyalty, and unwavering commitment of Fire Service dogs who have served in search, rescue, detection, and operational support roles over many years. It was a fitting and emotional tribute to those remarkable animals and their handlers.

Several Custodians members, accompanied by a valued support team member, travelled to attend the occasion and were proud to stand shoulder to shoulder with fellow Crown Servants, united by shared values of duty, honour, and public service. Throughout the day, there was a strong sense of mutual respect between all those present, regardless of country, chapter, or background. The gathering served as a reminder that the bonds forged through service and sacrifice extend far beyond borders.

The event was hosted by the Red Knights England Chapter 4, whose members, together with visiting Red Knights colleagues from across Europe and around the world, created a warm and welcoming environment for all in attendance. The international presence at the memorial was particularly inspiring, demonstrating the far-reaching brotherhood and fellowship that exists within the emergency service motorcycle community. Riders and representatives had travelled from numerous countries to pay their respects, highlighting the universal appreciation for those who dedicate their lives to protecting others.

The Custodians MC would like to extend sincere thanks and appreciation to the Red Knights for their outstanding hospitality throughout the event. From the moment of arrival, members were made to feel welcomed and valued, with genuine friendship and respect shown by all. Special thanks must also go to Mark, Vice President of Red Knights MC Europe, whose exceptional hospitality and support helped make the occasion all the more memorable. His efforts, along with those of the organising team, ensured the day ran seamlessly and allowed attendees to focus on remembrance, reflection, and fellowship.

As always, it was both an honour and a privilege for the Custodians MC to stand alongside fellow service personnel and supporters in remembrance of those who have given so much in service to others. Events such as these reinforce the importance of preserving the legacy of emergency service workers and ensuring future generations understand the sacrifices made by both human and canine heroes alike.

The memorial also served as an important reminder of the enduring values shared by organisations such as the Custodians MC and the Red Knights — loyalty, service, integrity, and brotherhood. In a world where opportunities to come together in unity are increasingly important, occasions like this provide not only a chance to remember the fallen, but also to strengthen the friendships and partnerships that continue to support those who serve today.

The Custodians MC are proud to have been part of such a meaningful and respectful occasion and look forward to continuing to support and stand alongside fellow Crown Servants and emergency service communities in the future. The memories of the day, the people met, and the tributes shared will remain with all who attended for many years to come.
